The AE undertakes activity that advises, informs and contributes to the wider debates on Science and Scholarship in Europe.
To enable this activity: the AE engages with individual scholars and organisations across Europe; organising meetings, publishing reports and supporting high-level expert groups that are tasked with the analysis of current and future issues relevant to the European citizen.
Our current activities include the following programmes:
"Science into Public Policy";
"The Role of the Humanities in the European Research Area"
"Higher Education and Scholarship"
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Science into Public Policy". The AE works in collaboration with other National European Academies of Science, through a collective group - "EASAC" (European Academies Science Advisory Council). This group draws on the scientific expertise from across Europe, to address current and future public policy issues, where science and technology can inform the public policy debate, thus seeking to build "Science into Public Policy". "The Role of the Humanities in Europe". The AE, in collaboration with other Academies across Europe, is addressing the issue of enabling a more dynamic role for the Humanities in the context of European Research Policy. For further details click here.

"Higher Education and Scholarship in Europe". "The AE group, collectively termed 'HERCULES' [Higher Education Research and CULture in European Society], organises an annual series of symposia and publications, that address issues relevant to the maintenance of the quality of our scholarship and teaching in institutions of Higher Education in Europe.
