President of Academia Europaea promotes report on science advice at World Science Forum#

Professor Sierd Cloetingh, President of Academia Europaea, spoke at the highly prestigious World Science Forum 2019 in Budapest.

Professor Cloetingh took part in the thematic session ‘Science Engagement: Redefining the Uneasy Relations with Politics and Policy? Some Transatlantic Dimensions‘, in which he explained the role of SAPEA and science for policy. Professor Cloetingh also highlighted SAPEA’s latest report Making sense of science for policy under conditions of complexity and uncertainty.

The event attracted over 1100 participants from 120 countries. Following the conference, an important WSF Declaration on “Science, Ethics and Responsibility”(info) was released.

About the World Science Forum#

The World Science Forum (WSF) was first held in Budapest in 1999. WSF 2019 marked the conference’s 20th anniversary and was celebrated on 20th-22nd November 2019 in Budapest. The conference was hosted by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences under the main theme “Science, Ethics and Responsibility”. Member of Academia Europaea, Professor László Lovász is President of the World Science Forum.
