The Behavioural Sciences Section covers a wide range of disciplines, including cognitive sciences, psychology and education. As a result of its breadth, members can be found in many different Faculties and Departments spanning the exact, bio-medical and social sciences. Its eclecticism means that a wide range of research areas and methodologies is embraced within the section, including both quantitative and qualitative (and contextual) studies. A major focus has been the Higher Education, Research and Culture in European Societies (HERCULES) programme which has organised a number of conferences in association with bodies such as the Wenner Gren Foundation, the Volkswagen Foundation and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (although members of other sections have also contributed).
